Ingredients
Raw rice 2cups
Moong dhal 1cup
Pepper 2 tsp
Jeera 2 tsp
finely cut ginger 1 inch
Ghee 2tbs
salt to taste
Curry leaves
Preparation
Roast rice and moong dhal in 2 tbs of ghee,add required amt of salt pressure cook
for 3 whistles.Meanwhile fry pepper,jeera in 2tsp ghee and powder them coarsely,also saute ginger pieces and keep aside.Once the rice and moong dhal are cooked add the coarsely powdered pepper and jeera,ginger pieces and garnish with cashew nuts fried in ghee and curry leaves.The consistency of the pongal should be soft.Once all these are added the Pongal is complete. Serve hot Pongal
with ghee.Coconut chutney is a good side dish.
