Ingredients
Thoovar dhal 1 cup
Tamarind 1 lime size
Tomato medium 1
Rasam powder 3 tsp (recipe given)
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Coriander few finely chopped
Ghee for seasoning
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Jeera 1 tsp
Hing 1 pinch
Salt to taste
Preparation
Cook the thoovar dhal in 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker till soft.In a vessel add the tamarind pulp and add 3 tsps of rasam powder, salt,turmeric,chopped tomato and boil for 3-4 mins till the raw smell of the tamarind goes.Mash the cooked dhal and add it to the mixture.Add water if needed.Now you will get a nice aroma of rasam.Season the Rasam with ghee and temper it with mustard seeds,jeera, hing and curry leaves.Garnish with coriander.
