It is an Authentic Karnataka Cuisine which has become world famous.
Ingredients
- Thoor dhal 1cup
- Raw rice 1cup
- Turmeric 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
Vegetables
Beans,carrot,potato,double beans,
french beans,capsicum(peppers)
fresh green peas or (frozen) and
cow-beans(avarekkai) each measuring 100 gms

Ingredients for making the powder for Bisebele Bhath
- Coriander seeds 2 tbs
- Channa dhal 2 tsps
- Urad dhal 1 tsps
- Red chillies 10
- Methi seeds 1 spoon
- Maratta moggu 2 pieces
- Cinnamon stick {Dalchini} 1 inch
- Copra (dessicated coconut) 1/2 cup
- Cloves ( Lavang) - 3-4 pieces
- Fresh Coconut ( Optional)
- Asfoetida - 1/4 Teaspoon
- Oil
Fry these in little oil separately and powder them in a mixie.Fry till you get a nice aroma.It may be made in advance and kept in air tight containers.
Preparation
Cook 1 cup of rice with 1 cup of thoor dhal adding 5 cups of water using pressure cooker.Boil the cut vegetables of your choice separately and add the boiled vegetables to the cooked rice and dhal.Mix well and keep aside.Squeeze out juice from a lemon sized tamarind and boil it with salt, turmericpowder,salt adding the Bisebele Bhath powder depending upon the spice consistency consumed.Add this to cooked rice and dhal mixture.The Bhath should be semi solid.Cook in a low flame until it forms a homogenous mixture of rice ,dhal tamarind juice and the bisibele bahth powder.Season this with mustard seeds,curry leaves and cashewnuts fried in ghee.Serve it hot with ghee.BBB as it is popularly
called tastes good with Fresh potato chips or Raita of your choice using tomato,cucumber or capsicums
cut into small pieces,
When you serve garnish this with Khara Boondi.Now your BBB is ready.In place of the fresh ground BBB powder you can use ready made instant powders like MTR powder.
