Ingredients
Rice flour 4 cups
Urad dal powder 1/2 cup
Butter or melted ghee 2 tbsps
Sesame seeds 2 tsps
Jeera 1 tsp
Chilli powder 2 tsp acc to taste
Channa dal 2 tbsps ( soaked in water for 1/2 hr)
Ground nuts 2 tbsps (crushed coarsely)
Curry leaves few chopped
Hing 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Preparation
Dry fry the urad dal cool it and grind it in a mixie to fine powder.Sift it in a fine sieve.Drain the soaked channa dal and thr coarsely crushed groundnuts to the dal powder and rice flour.Mix all the other ingredients except oil together adding water to form a thick dough.Make small balls out of it
and place it in a greased plastic sheet and flatten it with your fingers to a poori shape and deep fry them in hot oil.Make as many thattais or nippattu and peel one by one from the plastic sheet and drop them in hot oil and deep fry until golden brown on both the sides.Fry on a medium flame and deep fry all the thattais are done.
Store in air tight containers.Now the Thattai or Nippattu is ready.You can eat them anytime.
Variation
Instead of urad dal powder you can use roasted channa dal powder.This minimises the work of roasting and grinding the powder.
