Mullu Murukku (Mucchore)

Ingredients

Rice flour                  3 cups
Bengal gram dal        1/2 cup
Moong dal                 1/2 cup
Butter                        4 tbsps
Sesame seeds
        or                        2 tsps
Cumin seeds
Coconut milk              1 cup
Cardamom powder     1 tsp
Chilli powder              2 tsps
Asafoetida                  1/2 tsps
Salt as per taste
Coconut oil for deep frying

Preparation

Dry roast the bengal gram dal (kadalai paruppu) and moong dal separately and powder it and sieve.Take 1 cup of this flour and mix it with 3 cups of rice flour.Melt butter and pour it on the flours.Using the coconut milk add all the ingredients to make a smooth thick dough.Grease the inside of the murukku mould with little oil.Heat oil in a deep kadai. Take a handful of the dough and using a star press squeeze it through the mould in circles directly into the hot oil or into a paper towel. Carefully move it from the towel to your palm and slowly drop it in the hot oil and deep fry until golden yellow and crisp.Drop 2-3 murukkus at a time.Fry them on a medium flame.Drain on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil. Now the Mullu Murukku is ready.
